"Thine Subtle Unedited"

ErikFBrown_ThineSubtleUnedited_MidJourney_4096xx4096_07_09_2023

For direction, I considered "vision" as a "glimpse of", a limited view of something, and "utopia" needing to derive from that perception, formed resolutely, and somewhat immediately. It puts a lot of emphasis on the composition aside from the competition themes. Those guiding factors, to me, meant a personal, private, and unshared experience. One that hinted at culture, without inference to the distractions of society, or any urgency to interact with or rely upon it. The reason I like this one is, that it doesn't look uncomfortable at all. It appears fully able to fulfill all basic needs, is an inhabitable view of the world, and wouldn't be overwhelming if shown abruptly.

The themes of the competition are subtly displayed by:

  • Door locks, light-switches, windows, and polished floors, along with the variety of different materials for the Technology.

  • The tree and the leaves within the internal scene, the natural "nature" outside, and the human "nature" inside for the Nature.

  • The structural framing, with strong shapes and delicate detail for the Architecture.

Text Prompt with Tags:

a vision of warmth and peace:: ancient and advanced technology, hybrid designs incorporated by the melding of timespace travel and the tine thissoace allowed for, an implementation hyper-dustless, inextricably organic reformed through natural design to accommodate modern posh architecture neo-classically accented:: all desires met preemptive by its nature with such exactness that need becomes so unfamiliar the very word is forgotten:: separations conjoining unfolding from within:: --chaos 57 --no people --no humans --no crowds --no inhabitants --v 4.

I created this vision of utopia through a unique interpretation of the themes, and composed the prompt organically. I chose a specific image from a single set of four, which generated a 1024x1024 upscale through MidJourney version 4. And aside from re-naming the file as a requirement of submission, kept the image entirely unedited, and submitted it as such. No blending were used, there are zero references to any artist or their works, it was prompted without links to outside resources or images, and received no image-editing, touched-up finalization, color correction, or additional AI tools or modification.

The image above has been upscaled to 4096x4096.

Untitled Submission

I joined the next jam A.I. Bits hosted on their Discord server the week following the previous Visions of Utopia competition. For this jam I took it easy and only made a couple quick set using the Niji Model and the newly implemented zoom and directional zoom to find new variations of images to continue developing. It lent an anime style that was great for blending, outside of providing a ton of soft color.
